My husband in his many moods.

Pets-Past and Present

Sumo

We've had him since he was small enough to fit in the palms of my hands (wasn't he adorable)  He's now 10 years old, and just as stubborn, demanding, single-minded and adorable as always.  Cursed with a sensitive digestive system, his diet has developed into that of a vegetarian over the past couple of years.

***April 2007- After 12 1/2 years of friendship with this wonderful guy, we had to put him down.  He lived a great life and is terribly missed.

Shadow

He came to us at 6 months old with a terrible puppyhood behind him.  He was a cuddly, loving, melt-in-you-arms kind of dog with me, but very distrustful of people.  Unfortunately, that sensitive rottweiler digestive system created problems and he ended up with an inverted bowel.

***We put him down this past summer. (2004) I miss him terribly.

Okay.  I love dogs, what can I say.  Three days after putting Sumo down, I was going crazy and had to get another puppy.  I got on the internet and searched for puppies for sale in the area and found this guy.  Black lab with a black mother and a chocolate colored father, we picked him up when he was eight weeks old. His name is Storm and he's been enough of a handful (what puppy isn't) to keep my mind off missing Sumo.  I'll get some photos of him older and put them on the site.

Yep.  It took me awhile, but here is Storm at about 1 1/2 years old.  I was always of the understanding that Labradors

were calm, family dogs.  Well, no one told me that it takes about 3 years for them to settle down. Storm is great, but I'm

looking forward the the "calm" days not too far in the future.

I never would have thought so, but goats are amazing creatures.  Cute, cuddly, smart, adorable and they actually come when I call them

even better than Storm does.  All I have to do is clap my hands and they come running.  Of course, the raisins I give them when they

come helps.

Sweet little Joey.  Bottle-feeding him in our

living room. Only a week old when we

got him and he spent the next few

weeks, very sick.  I thought he'd die

more than once.  But he fought to live.

Believe it or not, he's sniffing the wind here.

Appreciating the fact that he's alive, I'm sure.

Joey and Sable. Our two house-warming gifts.

Unfortunately, Sable died a couple of weeks later from

a simple thing as a lack of selenium.  He needed a

shot.  If I'd known that, he'd still be alive today.

Joey, all grown up.

Goats love cedar.

Are we there yet?

Moonbeam.

We got him to replace Sable

because goats do not like

being alone.

Moonbeam making himself comfortable

on our front patio.

After falling totally in love with my two goats, I

decided to get some more.  This is Rebel. He was

3 weeks old when I got him. He loves

to jump and climb.

Merlin.  He was infested with lice and parasites

when I brought him home.  He was also

anemic and not eating. He's healthy enough

now to be giving all the other guys a hard time.

Sweet, loving little Snowflake. He wasn't one

of the goats I'd picked out to buy. I was only

supposed to get two.  Well, the few times I

went to visit the two I'd picked out, he climbed

up into my lap, hid his head under my coat

and went to sleep.  I had to bring him home.

Moonbeam is becoming the leader of

the herd.  He's always climbing up higher

than any of the other goats and lording

it over them.

Snowflake testing his balance. You'll notice my

husband in the background cuddling with Merlin.

Playtime.  I managed to catch the shadow

of head on the ground.

Merlin is following in Moonbeam's footsteps.

Very close in personality and characteristics,

and also the one that Moonbeam picks

on the most.

Merlin.  He's looking much better than when we

brought him home.

Storm, pretending to be a guard dog.  In actual

fact, he's usually chasing them.
